Hold My Heart

I flew to California last week for the funeral of a dear friend.   And I don’t know if you have experienced this, but every funeral I have attended in the past nine years brings back the emotions of that funeral, the one of my husband.  So I sat holding my daughter’s hand and remembered.  And amazingly enough, though there was emotion in the remembering, there was no longer a sharp shooting pain or agonizing sobs.  There was no longer the feeling that I couldn’t breathe and that the future loomed impossible and overwhelming. And  guess what?   In the remembering was the peace of knowing that God has been with us through every minute of the past nine years, and the bubbling hope that He has a plan that has only begun to unfold.

So the best advice I could give to you, no matter where you are on your journey is simply this:  Press into Him, dear ones – He really does hold your heart in the palm of His hand.

Somehow it’s when we come to the end of ourselves that we really come to know Him more.  This song by Tenth Avenue North really speaks to me, I pray it will bless you as well.  ( if you are getting this post via e-mail click here to go to the website to see the video)

Romans 15:13  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I have been to too many funerals in the last 2 !/2 years. They bring me back to my husband’s and my daughter’s, but the hurt I feel now is the long heartbreak journey my friends have to go through. I am now watching a dear friend suffer, as she watches her husband slip away. I hurt for her, and now his days are numbered and she is helpless, and the path that will soon be laid for her. I am grateful God has gotten me many days away from that heartwrenching funeral and the beginning of the widow path. You are so right about pressing into God and Him holding us up and loving us. I pray for all who have to endure this pain. We must press on and know that we will be with our sweet loves in eternity. Many blessings to all of you.
